SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services celebrating the life of Dr. E. John Turner, Jr., were held Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Grace Community United Methodist Church. Officiating were Rev. Rob Weber. Interment followed in Forest Park West Cemetery.
John was born April 27, 1947 in Houma, LA and passed away August 7, 2010 after a lengthy illness at home in Shreveport surrounded by his family. Dr. Turner attended Centenary College and Northwestern State University of Louisiana where he received degrees in education. He was a teacher with the Caddo Parish School Board for 20 years and a Professor with Centenary College for 10 years. John was a member of Grace Community United Methodist Church and the Krewe of Gemini serving as Bead Man, Captain and King.
Preceding John in death are his parents, Eldridge John Turner, Sr. and Elsie McElroy Turner. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 41 years, Katherine Galloway Turner; daughter, Margaret Turner Brasuell and husband Kevin; grandchildren, Clay Brasuell, Brandon Brasuell and Shelby Brasuell; and great-grandson, Jonathan Cullen Brazzel.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Grace Community United Methodist Church or charity of donor's choice.
